NARRATIVE | “The only lasting truth is change. God is change” ~ Parable of the Sower, Octavia Butler. Oya is a Yoruba-based deity who is adorned with nine colors. She represents the chaos and turbulence in life, nature, and the universe. I completed this commissioned piece during the US recession of 2007 – 2009, which inspired me to depict her in a marketplace. |
